Delivery Requirements form

Operations Unit Update Delivery Requirements Delivery Requirements form

The Delivery Requirements form enables you to edit the delivery requirements, such as trucking company, destination, or PIN number of a unit. A line operator or a trucking company can use this form to update the delivery requirements of a unit. See where Delivery Requirements fit in the Gate Operations process. See also, RejectTruckingCompanyNotAssignedForPickup.

If a unit is to be discharged directly from a vessel or a railcar to an external truck, instead of using the Units form, you must use either the Unit Delivery Requirements form or the Routing form (on page 1) (depending on a unit’s dray status), to update the option Is Ib to Ob move direct. You can update the option Is Ib to Ob move direct for export containers using this form only if the dray status is set. N4, however, allows you to update this option for import, transship, and domestic containers even if the dray status is not set.

When you update the delivery requirements for a unit, N4 records the UPDATE_DELIVERY_RQMNTS event. You can view the event details on the History, Events tab (on page 1) in the Unit Inspector (on page 1).

You can use the events that N4 records for a unit to send a notice request to interested parties. For more information, see General Notices view.

To update delivery requirements of a unit:

  1. In the Unit Nbr field, enter the ID of the unit for which you want to update the delivery requirements.

The specified unit must either be an import or an export with a Dray Status (on page 1) that allows the unit to go out the gate, and the unit must be in the Active or Advised transit state (on page 1). If N4 cannot find a unit or finds multiple units, it displays an error message.

  1. Update the delivery requirements of the unit.

  2. Click Save.

N4 displays the updated values on the Routing tab (on page 1) of the Unit Inspector for the selected unit.

The following table lists the optional fields in the Delivery Requirements form:

Field Label

Description

Trucking Company

Select the trucking company that will pick up the unit from the facility.

The lookup field displays only the trucking companies that exist at the current scope level. To add a new trucking company, use the Trucking Company form.

When successively updating the delivery requirements for one or more units:

  • If the selected unit has a trucking company associated with it, N4 displays that value in this field.

  • If the unit does not have any trucking company associated with it, N4 retains the value selected by the user for the previous container.

When you assign a trucking company to a unit, N4 records the UNIT_TRUCKER_ASSIGNED event for the unit.

You can view this event on the History, Events tab (on page 1) of the Unit Inspector (on page 1) for the unit.

Destination

Enter the final destination for the cargo in the unit.

This is the location where the cargo is stripped from the container.

Return to Location

Enter the location where the controlling line operator wants the consignee to bring the unit after the consignee has stripped the container.

PIN Number

Enter the PIN (on page 1) for the unit. You can enter up to 20 characters.

When you assign a PIN to a unit, N4 records the UNIT_PIN_ASSIGNED event for the unit. You can view this event on the History, Events tab (on page 1) of the Unit Inspector (on page 1) for the unit.

When you select multiple units, this field appears disabled. You cannot enter the PIN Number field for multiple units because the PIN number is unique for a unit.

Bonded Trucking Company

Select the trucking company that will pick up the unit for inbond transit.

Prerequisite: A Unit Deny Field privilege (on page 1) controls access to this field.

This lookup field displays only the trucking companies that exist at the current scope level and meet one of the following criteria:

  • If there is a value in the Exam Status field for the selected unit, then only trucking companies with the Is Exam Site Carrier check box selected and the Exam Authorization Expiration field blank or set to a date that is on or after the current date display.

  • If there is a value in the Inbond Status field for the selected unit, then only trucking companies with the Is Seized Cargo Carrier check box selected and the Seized Cargo Authorization Expiration field blank or set to a date that is on or after the current date display.

  • If there is a value in both the Exam Status and Inbond Status fields for the selected unit, then only trucking companies with both the Is Exam Site Carrier and Is Seized Cargo Carrier check boxes selected and both the Exam Authorization Expiration and Seized Cargo Authorization Expiration fields blank or set to a date that is on or after the current date display.

  • If the Exam Status and Inbond Status fields are blank for the selected unit, then no trucking companies display.

You can view the Exam Status and Inbond Status fields for the selected unit in the Shipment Details form (on page 1). You can view the trucking company information in the Trucking Company form.

Is Ib to Ob move direct?

Select this check box if the unit is to be discharged from a vessel or railcar directly to an external truck.

The INVDIRECT_DELIVERY001 (DIRECT_DELIVERY_RAIL) (on page 1) setting controls whether N4 allows direct deliveries or not.

You can update this check box for export containers using this form only if the dray status is set. Otherwise, you must use the Routing form (on page 1).

PIN

The PIN is a unique identification for a unit, bill of lading, or delivery order that a line operator can use to validate that a truck driver is picking up the correct container or break-bulk cargo.

For unit

In N4, you can use the Delivery Requirements form (on page 1) to assign or edit the PIN for a unit. These privileges control the ability to view and edit PIN associated with a unit:

If the user’s role excludes the privileges PIN - Check, PIN - Edit, and PIN – View, then on the Units view (on page 1), the PIN Number column displays the data as "****".

A line operator can control:

Use the Line Operator form Booking Rules tab to specify these restrictions.

A line operator may receive the PIN from an EDI trading partner or it may be generated in N4. If the line operators assign a PIN to a unit they can specify an alphanumeric value. If N4 generates the PIN, it consists of only digits but the value is stored as a string value.

PIN is available as part of the Unit reporting entity and can be included in various reports.

You can configure the Pin Number field on a gate form at the outgate stage for a deliver gate transaction to force the truck driver to enter a PIN. You can include the RejectPinNbrMismatch, RejectPinNbrNotAssigned, and RejectPinNbrNotEntered business tasks in your gate configuration to control the delivery of a unit using the PIN.

For break-bulk cargo

You can use the Bill of Lading form to associate a PIN to a BL.  To associate a PIN to a Delivery Order, you can use either the Delivery Order form or the Create Delivery Order form.

If you have the privilege that allows you to edit a BL or a delivery order, you can edit the PIN assigned to the BL or the delivery order.

You can include the Pin Number field as part of your Deliver Break-Bulk gate transaction to force the truck driver to enter a PIN. You can include the RejectPinNbrMismatch, RejectPinNbrNotAssigned, and RejectPinNbrNotEntered business tasks in your gate configuration to control the delivery of break-bulk cargo using the PIN.
